The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is a trusted strategic advisor who actively integrates the business strategy with people management practices. This role serves as the highest functional HR leader at the local manufacturing site, leads a team of HR professionals and ensures the people strategy enables
business success. The HRBP improves performance through effective talent management, leadership development, workforce planning and strategic partnerships with senior leaders. The position plays a central role in shaping and sustaining company culture and driving employee engagement by acting as the bridge between business strategy and people experience.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Prepares the site for the future by understanding the company goals, business model and financial drivers.
- Coaching and Influence: Provides coaching to direct reports and senior leaders, builds trust among all levels of the site, navigates conflict and collaborates with various stakeholders in a Continuous Improvement culture. Acts as a trusted advisor to leaders by providing candid, solutions-oriented counsel.
- Building Competitive Organization: Translates business objectives into actionable HR strategies and plans. Partners with leadership to prioritize initiatives that drive performance and profitability.
- Recruitment: Anticipates workforce needs-based business demands. The HRBP is responsible for the site to be staffed at headcount and uses sound judgement to balance short-term operational needs with long-term talent strategies.
- Performance Management: Strongly supports leaders in enhancing staff performance and supporting employee development. Drives the mid-year and end of year performance management cycle.
- Data Driven Problem Solving: Uses metrics to evaluate the impact of HR initiatives and continuously improve results. Encourages the HR team to leverage technology, and systems for better decision making and efficiency. Use data to influence and make strategic business decisions.
- Compliance: Thorough knowledge of employment law and state regulations that must be met and upheld. Responsible for the oversight and communication of workplace regulations and site adherence to company policies.
- Models the Culture: Ensures that Company purpose and values are reflected in performance management, recognition and communication practices. Identifies when behaviors or decisions drift from the organization's values and provides course correction. Coach direct reports and management on how to communicate authentically, give feedback effectively and recognize employees meaningfully. Create an inclusive and high performing HR team culture that thrives on collaboration, accountability and caring for one another.
- Subject to the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and Ajinomoto Food's HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures, assisting the Ajinomoto Food health plan with day-to-day activities involving protected health information, including but not limited to, assisting with employee claims, coordinating benefits, determining health claim status, determining eligibility for coverage, budgeting and renewal, billing and collection activities, obtaining assistance from third-parties for plan functions, and any other duties delegated by the HIPAA Privacy or
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Business Management, Human Resource Management or a related field
- Masters degree preferred
- Professional Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
- 6-8 years of advanced HR experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Knowledge of HR principles and business acumen.
- Experience effectively coaching and collaborating with senior business leaders.
- Demonstrated the aptitude to identify problems, analyze them and implement data-driven solutions.
- Skill in driving and managing organizational change initiatives.
- Ability to work both independently and through others.
- Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills; solid communication (written and verbal) and influence skills are critical.
- The ability to effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
- Although not required, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
