We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated Assistant Professor of Biology to join our Department of Physical & Life Sciences. This is a tenure-track (or nontenure-track, depending on your structure) faculty position, primarily focused on undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development, with opportunities to engage in student research and internships.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach biology courses at the associate and baccalaureate levels, including general biology, cellular & molecular biology, and biotechniques, as well as specialized courses aligned with your expertise.
- Mentor and guide students through professional internships and undergraduate research projects, helping them develop practical and analytical skills.
- Provide academic advisement and support to help students navigate their educational paths, degree planning, and career goals.
- Lead or contribute to curriculum and course development, ensuring our biology programs remain current, rigorous, and aligned with departmental goals.
- Participate in student recruitment activities and outreach to attract and retain talented students.
- Serve on departmental and college committees, contributing to broader institutional initiatives and service efforts.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory settings (at the undergraduate level).
- Proven ability to design and deliver biology curricula, including organizing lab exercises and assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Practical experience in biology, including hands-on training or work in laboratory techniques (e.g., biotechniques, molecular methods).
- Experience or strong interest in active-learning and student engagement strategies.
- Prior involvement mentoring students in undergraduate research or supervising internships.
- Experience in curriculum development and/or course design for biology programs.
