Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious individual to join our production team as a Banbury Operator/Assistant Operator. This role involves operating and assisting with the Banbury mixing process, ensuring accurate formulation, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Banbury Machine:
- Perform visual inspections and general preventive maintenance of the Banbury area, tools, and equipment.
- Power on Banbury and review formulas and materials provided by Assistant.
- Accurately weigh pigment and wax; load formula materials into the mixer.
- Monitor and adjust temperature to meet formula specifications.
- Inspect material during batch mixing and adjust as needed.
- Coordinate with Extruder Operator for batch release timing.
- Release/drop batch and clean machine using a scabber
- Complete production reports and submit to supervisor at end of shift.
Assist Banbury Operation:
- Conduct visual inspections and preventive maintenance of Banbury area.
- Review production orders at the start of each shift.
- Stock work area with necessary materials for efficient workflow.
- Break down and weigh/cut EPDM; load conveyor with raw materials (EPDM, clay, calcium carbonate, pigments, Titanium Dioxide, Triganox, Perkadox).
- Communicate continuously with Banbury Operator regarding production needs.
General Duties:
- Rotate between operating and assisting with Banbury machine.
- Use forklift to retrieve raw materials.
- Lift and handle bags up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
- Monitor screens for material levels and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow formulas accurately.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and preventive maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Ability to monitor and adjust machine settings.
- Time management and organizational skills.
