POSITION SUMMARY Performs company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, construction and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstall, repair, or replace steel and plastic pipeProvide First Responder assistance in emergency situationsLoad and unload required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truckLocate gas linesUse a variety of hand tools and power tools, including picks, shovels, sharpshooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.Operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassistedOperate a personal computer, either desktop or laptopExert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objectsStand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch daily for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditionsHandle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasionRespond to emergency calls and/or call-outs and occasionally return to work while off dutyCertify and don personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basisSubmit to random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety sensitive positionsPerform other duties as assignedBasic Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDValid driver’s licenseAbility to work outdoors on a daily basis in all types of weather conditionsMust be available to respond to emergencies during and after normal working hoursNice to have experience includes:WeldingCommercial Driver’s License (CDL)Heavy equipment operatorField services/operations
The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
