As a Consulting Associate, Archaeologist, you'll help ensure that significant archaeological sites are identified, evaluated, and protected. Your work directly informs responsible development and environmental stewardship across Texas, Louisiana.

What You'll Bring
Required
Bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field.
15 years of Phase I, II, and/or III archaeological fieldwork experience. Or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience with inventory, survey, testing, or data recovery.
Ability to contribute effectively to technical reports.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Familiarity with Gulf-region archaeology, artifacts, and survey standards.
Experience with GPS units, tablets, and other mapping technologies.
Local availability for Gulf-region projects (Texas/Louisiana preferred).
Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time, including weekends.
Ability to walk up to 10 miles/day, work in varied terrain and weather, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., and excavate shovel tests and units.
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
Ability to work extended hours and travel on short notice.
Strong technical writing skills and adherence to safety practices.
Ability to pass random drug and alcohol testing.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field.
Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
Eligibility for permit listing.
Strong oral and written communication abilities.
Detail‑oriented, resourceful, proactive, and motivated.
Positive, team‑focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct online and in‑person records research in preparation for fieldwork.
Assist with field preparation, including safety planning, logistics, and survey protocols.
Perform pedestrian Phase I and II archaeological surveys.
Record artifacts, features, and sites using tablets and GPS.
Follow all field safety procedures and participate in daily safety tailgates.
Evaluate sites for National Register and State Register eligibility.
Assess project-related impacts to archaeological sites.
Maintain accurate daily logs and complete all documentation (digital and hard copy).
Support report development and ensure deliverables meet deadlines.
Maintain field records and equipment with accuracy and care.
