Description
The Dewatering Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of anaerobic systems which includes efficiently operating and maintaining equipment to separate solids from liquids after the anaerobic digestion process. This role involves a combination of monitoring, maintenance, and operational tasks to include the operation of equipment to ensure the optimal performance of the digestion process and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to operate and monitor centrifuges, belt filter presses, screw presses, and other specialized dewatering systems. Responsible for adjusting and troubleshooting process controls with an understanding of the characteristics of anaerobic sludge, make informed adjustments to parameters like chemical dosages (polymers) and equipment settings to achieve optimal dewatering efficiency. Regularly inspect equipment, lubricate moving parts, identify and address minor malfunctions, and assist with more significant repairs to ensure smooth operation. Collect and test samples of the sludge and dewatered cake to monitor dewatering performance and ensure compliance with environmental and operational standards. Document equipment readings, operational data, maintenance activities, and chemical usage in logs and reports. Following strict safety guidelines, especially when working with hazardous chemicals, confined spaces, and heavy machinery. Operate forklift and yard truck to load fertilizer trailers and manager fertilizer storage. Coordinate with other personnel to ensure compliance with specifications.
Participates as a member of the Team . Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives : Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Physical Activities : Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment. Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift. Ability to climb stairs / fixed and vertical ladders occasionally, requires upper body and arm strength due to frequently claiming vertical ladders and having to pull up your own weight and not afraid of Hights. Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and use hand tools and shovel periodically throughout the shift. Ability to identify and use PPE in accordance with SDS sheets. Must be able to pass a fit test, physical exam, and pulmonary function test (lung capacity) and serve on Hazardous response team.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, H2S monitor.
Travel : Some travel between Simmons facilities may be necessary.
Technical Experience: Industrial control and multiple heavy equipment experience skills preferred.
Industry Experience: Experience in wastewater treatment or anaerobic digestion is often preferred.
