Director - Field SalesPOSITION SUMMARY:
- The Director of Columbus is responsible for leading and integrating the functions that drive executional excellence across the sales organization - including merchandising, sales operations, field training, and sales support.
- This role provides strategic direction, ensures disciplined adherence to annual budgets, and establishes the processes, tools, and people systems that enable the sales team to deliver growth and profitability targets.
- The Director will oversee four key managers - Merchandising Manager, Sales Operations Manager, Field Sales Training Manager, and Sales Support Manager - ensuring alignment, accountability, and flawless execution from strategy to shelf.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Analyzes and controls department expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. Establish and authorize budget expenditures to oversee the expenditure for the Central Market (Columbus).
- Performs selling/delivery functions for a defined geography as defined by our annual AOP, with special emphasis on operational efficiencies and controlling overall budget spend.
- Maintains confidentiality of financial information, promotions, pricing, CDA contracts, profit and loss reports, customer information, employee information (e.g., discipline, wage information) and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures are met, followed and maintained in accordance with established company policy (e.g., OSHA and safety compliance, Federal/State/Local laws)
Leadership Responsibilities
- Performs selling/delivery functions for a defined geography as defined by our annual AOP, with special emphasis on operational efficiencies and controlling overall budget spend.
- Analyzes and controls department expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements. Establish and authorize budget expenditures to oversee the expenditure for all Columbus employees.
- Lead annual operating plan development and manage departmental budgets to ensure financial compliance and cost control.
- Maintains confidentiality of financial information, promotions, pricing, CDA contracts, profit and loss reports, customer information, employee information (e.g., discipline, wage information) and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Analyzes marketplace competition and performance, reports findings with solutions to Senior Market Director with recommendations.
- Ensures that company policies, standards and procedures are met, followed and maintained in accordance with established company policy (e.g., OSHA and safety compliance, Federal/State/Local laws)
- Provide unified direction and vision across Merchandising, Sales Operations, Field Training, and Sales Support.
- Translate sales strategies into actionable execution plans with clear KPIs.
- Partner with the Senior Director of Sales on long-range planning, ROI analysis, and resource allocation.
- Lead and support the Field Sales Training Manager in building a consistent onboarding, coaching, and capability-building framework specialized for Columbus.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and accountability across all levels of the sales organization.
- Oversee the annual budgets assigned to each function, ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimization of spending.
- Analyze performance data to evaluate ROI and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Partner with Finance, HR, Marketing, Warehouse, and Supply Chain to align goals and ensure executional readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison between field execution and senior leadership for communication, planning, and escalation.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 6+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales operations, merchandising, or commercial execution acceptable.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams and functions toward shared business goals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Highly organized, data-driven, and capable of balancing strategy with hands-on execution.
Experience: 6-10 years of proven progressive, strategic experience and success in an operations or sales position.
Certificates and Licenses:
Ability to obtain and meet industry licensing requirements as needed.
