Western Slope Health Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Staff Development (DSD) to lead education, training, and professional growth for our care team. This is a key leadership role that directly impacts staff success, regulatory compliance, and the quality of care we provide to our residents.

What You'll Do

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver facility orientation, in-services, and ongoing education programs
• Develop and maintain annual and monthly in-service training schedules
• Ensure compliance with state and federal training and certification requirements
• Coordinate fire, disaster, and emergency preparedness drills
• Identify education needs through surveys, evaluations, audits, and facility rounds
• Maintain accurate training and in-service documentation
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development initiatives
• Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections
• Supervise and mentor staff, supporting performance improvement when needed
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator
• Provide direct resident/patient care as needed
• Uphold confidentiality and promote a positive, professional learning environment

• Current, unencumbered RN or LVN/LPN license in California (BSN preferred)
• CPR certification
• Minimum 1 year of direct patient care experience in a long-term care setting
• Minimum 1 year of experience in staff education, training, or program development
• 2+ years of experience in long-term care preferred
• Knowledge of PCC strongly preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to maintaining continuing education and license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing
