Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) | Bellingham, WA
Wage Range: $36.80 - $54.42/hour DOE

Compass Health is seeking a qualified Dispatch Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) to join our Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) in Whatcom County. This hybrid role combines clinical decision-making and frontline crisis coordination, offering a unique opportunity to help individuals and families receive timely, trauma-informed support.
Schedule:
- Sunday-Tuesday | 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Thursday | 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
As the Dispatch DCR, you'll serve as the central point of coordination for incoming crisis service requests. You'll assess situations, triage by urgency and complexity, and assign team resources accordingly-while occasionally providing direct outreach and clinical support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Receiving and triaging crisis calls from community partners and the public
- Conducting initial investigations to determine appropriate clinical response
- Assigning crisis cases to MCOT team members based on acuity, location, and capacity
- Evaluating individuals in crisis and determining whether involuntary detention is warranted
- Collaborating with law enforcement, schools, hospitals, and community agencies
- Providing limited in-person outreach services when necessary
- Ensuring all documentation and records are accurate and completed within required timelines
- Maintaining compliance with state regulations, WAC guidelines, and internal policies
You'll join a multidisciplinary, mobile crisis response team that serves people of all ages experiencing behavioral health crises. The team delivers short-term, community-based support grounded in strength-based, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care.
What You Bring
- Master's Degree (MA/MS/MSW) in a Behavioral Science-related field (required)
- Qualified Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) and Mental Health Professional (MHP) status under WAC (required)
- Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience in behavioral health settings
- Knowledge of RCW 71.05 and 71.34
- WA State Approved Supervisor Training (or willingness to complete)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Valid WA State Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and insurance
- Strong knowledge of crisis stabilization, risk assessment, and involuntary treatment processes
- Ability to independently triage, prioritize, and act with urgency under pressure
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across diverse systems
- Comfort with high-intensity environments and complex clinical decision-making
- Experience with electronic health records and case documentation
- Commitment to culturally competent and trauma-informed care
