Overview
The District Manager will oversee operations across a portfolio of 35 client sites serviced through subcontracted janitorial teams. Based in Asheville, NC, this role ensures consistent service delivery, compliance with standards, strong client relationships, and effective subcontractor management. The District Manager is accountable for operational performance, subcontractor oversight, safety, and financial goals.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily janitorial operations across multiple sites via subcontractors, ensuring services meet quality and performance standards.
- Subcontractor Management: Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise subcontractor teams; monitor performance and ensure accountability.
- Client Relations: Serve as primary client contact, addressing concerns promptly, conducting regular site visits, and fostering trusted partnerships.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct audits and inspections to ensure subcontractors comply with contractual obligations, safety policies, and organizational standards.
- Financial Oversight: Track labor and supply expenses, monitor budgets, and implement efficiency measures while maintaining service quality.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety programs, OSHA requirements, and site-specific protocols to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
- Reporting & Administration: Complete required reports, approve subcontractor invoices, document incidents, and provide timely updates to leadership and clients.
- Growth Support: Assist in launching new accounts, including planning, subcontractor allocation, and service rollout.
- Other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities services, preferably in a subcontractor model.
- Experience managing multiple accounts and subcontractor teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a hands-on leadership approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for resolving employee, subcontractor, and client concerns.
- Valid driver's license with ability to travel across assigned region.

Physical Requirements
Applicants for this role must be able to:
- Climb small to medium flights of stairs multiple times a day
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking
- Able to hear and speak into a telephone
- Close visual work on a computer terminal
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
