The Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston is seeking applications from highly qualified candidates for the position of Chief of MRI Research and Director of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center. This is a senior position, Associate Professor or Professor, requiring leadership and administrative skills.The MRI Center houses Philips 3T Achieva and Bruker 7T animal scanners. The MRI Center is located in a 5,000-square-foot facility on the ground floor of McGovern Medical School.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1) Direct and administer the MRI facility that includes the supervision of the MRI staff
2) Establish a strong MRI research program and apply for extramural funding
3) Establish strong collaboration from investigators from within and outside UTH
4) Help the MRI users develop the MRI protocols and assist them with the data analysis
5) Teach Residents and others as assigned by the Departmental Chair
6) Mentor Junior Faculty
Qualifications:
- MD/PhD or Ph.D, degree in an area very closely related to magnetic resonance imaging/spectroscopy;
- Significant experience in the application of MR to various clinical conditions;
- Thorough familiarity with the latest developments in the field of MRI/MRS.
- Outstanding track record in peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding, with a national and international reputation.
