POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Sets up, operates, and maintains various types of electronic, optical, electro-optical, and camera equipment. Equipment will include, but not be limited to, TV transmitting and receiving, radio control, timing distribution, video recording, video distribution, network distribution, Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR), high speed digital imagers and their computer control and support systems, Continuous Flow model A (CFA), HYTAX streak cameras and other film based cameras, Kineto Tracking Mounts (KTM), and uninterruptible power supply equipment used with high speed digital imagers and computer control equipment.
The technician will apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufactures' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits, judgment in planning work sequence, and in selecting tools and testing instruments. Uses test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, voltage meters, and complex computer control equipment to maintain equipment. Performance test electronic systems and equipment prior to test support to verify operation is within OEM and test support parameters.
Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technicians, and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Work will include associated cross utilization and certification for other jobs on the contract and associated cross-utilization into these and other jobs as required. May require TDY, weekend, and overtime work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstration of satisfactory skills and good performance in the particular field; three years progressive experience in the specific field in addition to graduation from a two year resident course at a technical institute, or a total of six years progressive experience in the specific field. Experience must include troubleshooting and repair of video equipment, CFA and HYTAX camera equipment, high speed digital imagers, IRIG/GT2 amplifier and timing distribution units, un-interruptible power supplies, and HHSTT configured Kineto Tracking Mounts. A minimum of four years of progressive computer experience in PC operations as applied to computer-controlled instrumentation using Windows-based Operating Systems software and computer networks is required. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
