Looking to build real-world accounting experience while you're still in school? Join our team as a Financial Accounting Student and take on meaningful work that has real impact at Rocky Mountain Steel Mills. In this role, you'll play a key part in our monthly close process — including journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, and account reconciliations — all while learning how financial operations run inside a major industrial business.
We're looking for someone who's organized, motivated, and ready to take initiative in a fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals, gain hands-on exposure to corporate accounting, and develop the kind of skills that set you apart after graduation.
As a student employee, you'll have access to mentorship, training, and growth opportunities. You'll report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager, who's invested in helping you learn and succeed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of monthly journal entries under IFRS accounting standards and entry into the General Ledger system
- Assisting with the month end close process, including preparing reports and communication among stakeholders for month end costs
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports to distribute to other internal departments
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including analyzing balances and ensuring accounting treatment is in accordance with IFRS guidance
- Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization
- Utilize problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting process at the company
- Assist with ad hoc reports and projects, as requested
- Performs other duties as they might be assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidate should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Candidate must be able to work onsite in Pueblo, CO
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Available to work part-time during the school year, full-time during the summer
- Basic user of Excel; Intermediate user preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail, ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, be a self-starter
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Cooperative and effective team member, ability to interact with all levels of Orion Steel Group employees
- Highly adaptable with a willingness to learn and actively participate
