Description
The Gallogly College of Engineering (GCoE) is expanding in Tulsa to strengthen academic pathways into engineering, computing, and advanced technology degree programs and address growing workforce needs in Oklahoma. The Tulsa campus is home to the GCoE Polytechnic Institute, which offers several degree completion programs aligned with computing and technology careers. The Recruitment Coordinator will be based on the OU-Tulsa campus and play a key role in recruiting for GCoE programs in Tulsa and Norman, working with first-time full-time, transfer, transition, and non-traditional students. This position will oversee a small team of GCoE Ambassadors, which are current OU-Tulsa students who support recruitment events. The Recruitment Coordinator will report to the Director of Outreach and Recruitment, who is based on the Norman campus while being a very important part of the OU Polytechnic Institute team in Tulsa, and will operate with a high degree of independence while collaborating with campus partners in Tulsa and Norman.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Director to develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase enrollment of first-time full-time, transfer, transition, and non-traditional students on the Norman and Tulsa campuses.
- Develop recruitment communications tailored to Tulsa-area prospective students in collaboration with college and campus partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, transfer advisors, community college staff, high school counselors, and other stakeholders in Tulsa, northeast Oklahoma, and the region.
- Communicate regularly with prospective students and their supporters through email, calls, in-person visits, and events.
- Travel to schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations within the region to represent OU GCoE engineering, computing, and advanced technology programs, including some evenings and weekends.
- Organize and deliver presentations to prospective students, families, and community partners to promote OU Engineering programs on both the Norman and Tulsa campus.
- Coordinate and support recruitment events at OU-Tulsa, community colleges, high schools, and other regional venues.
- Oversee, train, and mentor a team of GCoE Ambassadors to support recruitment activities.
- Partner with Tulsa and Norman campus offices and departments to ensure strong support for transfer and non-traditional students, including credit transfer processes and access to resources.
- Collaborate with the Director of Outreach and Recruitment to set annual goals, track progress, and adapt strategies as needed.
- Support broader GCoE recruitment initiatives across Oklahoma when needed.
This position is located on the Tulsa campus. It is an onsite position that will require travel.
Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree AND:
12 months of related experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in Lieu of bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months related experience.
Skills:
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic math skills.
Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
Some travel required for recruiting.
Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty and staff.
Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
Customer service skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong coordination with remote supervisor and campus colleagues.
Willingness to travel frequently within northeast Oklahoma and surrounding region.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting student populations, including first-generation, rural, transfer, transition, and non-traditional students.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Physical: Ability to bend, lift, stoop and carry. Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Environmental: Standard office environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other departments and university officials. Willingness to work extended and weekend hours during peak periods.
Department Preferences:
- Valid Driver License - frequent travel within northeast Oklahoma and surrounding region.
- Experience in recruitment, admissions, student affairs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate with energy and enthusiasm.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting student populations, including first-generation, rural, transfer, transition, and non-traditional students.
- Experience with Slate, or a similar CRM system.
