Johnstown Housing & Residence Life - Pennsylvania-Johnstown - (25006507)
The department serves a population of approximately 1,200 students and includes the following operational areas: housing, dining services, laundry services, and ID center. the housing operation manages 20 residence halls composed of five first-year facilities, six lodges, six townhouses, one on-campus apartment-style facility, a 400-bed facility adjacent to the Conference Center, and a 49-unit off-campus apartment complex. The dining program, which offers six residential meal plan options and one commuter plan, includes one all-you-can-eat dining hall and seven retail concepts managed by Chartwells Higher Ed, a subsidiary of the global Compass Group. Housing and Dining Services and Residential Life work collaboratively to manage the student residential experience at Pitt-Johnstown.
- Coordinates all aspects of housing operations including, but not limited to, the application process, recontracting, room selection/assignments, summer housing, move-in/move-out processes, and medical housing accommodations.
- Develops and implements group, organizational, and individual housing processes.
- Coordinates residential key management. Manages residence hall damage billing processes.
- Coordinates logistics for residence hall opening/closing and student arrival/departure.
- Serves as key administrator of StarRez housing management system to manage all housing operations including: creating terms, sessions, and contract dates; building and managing residential housing and commuter-in-residence applications; making assignments; creating housing and meal plan options and rates; updating room inventory; and creating/maintaining housing forms such as private room requests, room change requests, support animal registration, late-stay/early-arrival requests, and guest management.
- Maintains currency and accuracy of all information on StarRez PortalX landing page as well as “housing tasks and forms” section.
- Assist with testing, troubleshooting and evaluation of StarRez software upgrades and implementation of future modules.
- Develop annual calendar of tasks including recontracting, residence hall opening/closing, student arrival/departure, and set deadlines.
- Manage residence hall damage billing process, including oversight and training of residence hall staff in assessing damages, billing of damages to student accounts, and the appeals process.
- Provide customer service for housing, dining, and residence life-related inquiries including by phone, email, and in-person interactions with students, parents, and other departments.
- Liaise with Conference Services on summer conference groups including transition of residence hall buildings to Conference Services and tracking of condition, keys, and equipment.
- Utilize systems including RS2 and Transact.
- Hire and supervise Office Assistants, maintain supply inventory, and accurate departmental financial records.
Job Summary
Oversees all aspects of the University housing application process and the housing and accommodation management system. Serves as liaison to resolve high-level issues. Develops policies and procedures, community outreach, marketing, and promotional materials across various mediums and platforms.
