The Manager of Public & Labor Sales leads a team of Account Management/Account Executive professionals responsible for the growth and client retention of IBX products and services for our industry-leading, Public and Labor business. This leadership role will lead a team of experienced professionals, working every day to deliver exceptional client, member and consultant experiences, executing segment strategies and ensuring our teams deliver upon our commitments to our clients. The position requires strong leadership, strategic vision, industry knowledge and relationship management skills to contribute to achieving our membership retention, growth and revenue goals.
Responsibilities:
· Evaluates segment performance and contributes to the development of segment strategies for the Public Sector, H&W Fund and Education segment to improve health and financial outcomes for our clients, while achieving the growth and retention objectives set by the business.
· Oversee account planning, implementation, and performance monitoring.
· Drive segment goals and strategic initiatives to meet revenue and membership targets.
· Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to identify risks and opportunities.
· Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team to ensure accountability and high performance.
· Set clear performance expectations, monitor progress, and conduct regular evaluations.
· Collaborate with internal teams to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions, including plan enhancements and cost-containment strategies.
· Manage the renewal process for large accounts, including pricing, negotiations, and proposal presentations.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and consultants to support retention and growth.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
· Track and report sales performance metrics to senior leadership.
· Utilize CRM tools and analytics to manage pipeline and forecast revenue.
· Maintain expertise in market trends, competitive landscape, and healthcare industry developments.
· Ensure licensing compliance for self and team members.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· 8+ years of progressive sales experience, preferably in health or managed care; 2+ years in a leadership role.
· Experience in national healthcare insurance sales strongly preferred.
· Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
· Strong strategic, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
· Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and managing business objectives.
· Solid understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements.
· Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite and CRM systems.
· Knowledge of Independence's products, services, and rating methodologies preferred.
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
· Active PA State Accident & Health license required (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
· Ability to travel as needed.
Independence has implemented a "Hybrid" model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the "Hybrid" model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania
