- Industrial Maintenance Mechanic - Journeyman Millwright (Chilco)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Journeyman Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment within the mill. This includes conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other critical systems used in milling operations, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance. The Journeyman Millwright ensures that equipment operates efficiently and safely to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs.
- Follow safety protocols and report hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Utilize CMMS to document all work orders and equipment maintenance records throughout the facility.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure machines continue to run smoothly, operate efficiently, and produce high-quality output.
- Install, repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment with primary focus on safe and continuous operation of all equipment and facilities.
- Assist in maintaining the inventory of critical spare parts.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) problem-solving efforts to eliminate repeat equipment failures.
- Assist in evaluating and measuring vendor performance.
- Understand and actively apply yourself in the maintenance work-up program to advance through training and experience.
- Collaborate with operations, electricians, engineers, and other trades.
- Duties vary by location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of industrial mechanical experience.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to address operational challenges creatively and effectively.
- The ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Examples include time management, multitasking, and production targets.
- Participation in approved Millwright apprenticeship program or equivalent journeyman certification.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and alignment techniques.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and mechanical instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient computer skills Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable motor vehicle history for business travel in company vehicle.

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
