Job Summary:
The Value Stream Planning Manager is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to develop, implement, and execute master scheduling, production planning, production scheduling, and material flow processes for value streams as they are transitioned to lean/pull production from traditional push production.
The Value Stream Planning Manager is also responsible for identifying gaps in these processes and closing them to ensure consistent schedule attainment as measured by On Time Delivery to Original Promise Date and Stock Fill for customer orders.
The Value Stream Manager will work with operations leadership to identify and implement organizational efficiency improvements for the assigned value stream.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential):
1. Develop and implement a master scheduling process based on existing AS400 capabilities. Use this process to communicate a master schedule for assigned vale streams that effectively balances manpower, machine, and material constraints with customer demand and inventory targets.*
2. Develop and drive a rough cut capacity planning process to proactively identify and resolve capacity issues to ensure on time delivery of products.*
3. Develop pull material flow processes to drive the manufacture of build to stock, make to order, and engineer to order products.*
4. Monitor production within the assigned value streams to identify and resole potential problems early and work with cross functional team to implement corrective
actions.*
5. Investigate and resolve issues related to MRP, planning parameters, Kanban calculations, and other planning and material flow topics.*
6. Provide medium range production forecasts for use in material flow and production capacity
planning.*
7. Work with cross functional teams to plan the introduction of new products and accounts for any impact to factory capacity.*
8. Work with operations leadership to identify and implement opportunities for reducing overhead required to support the assign value streams.*
Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.):
Strong understanding of master scheduling and capacity planning in a discrete manufacturing environment.
• Working understanding of MRP, BOM's, ECO process, planning parameters, etc.
• Solid understanding of material flow and inventory management in a Pull/Kanban setting
• Proven ability to problem solve complex issues that arise from planning and inventory flow systems
• Proficient in Excel (advanced formulas, pivots, if/then)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Self-starter who seeks out ways to improve processes before being asked
• Ability to be effective in a fast paced, metric driven environment
Physical / Environmental Conditions:
Normal office conditions. Office located in a two-story office building. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving and/or traveling.
Moderate exposure to shop conditions, which are variable depending on the task assigned, but are generally dirty. Is subject to shop noise. Involves extensive standing and walking. Skin and eyes are subject to drying and irritating fumes, vapors and solutions controlled to OSHA standards. Works both in and out of doors, normally indoors, with sometimes dusty or confining work areas when in the shop/lab.
