- Loan Operations Specialist

Our Loan Operations Specialist is responsible for reviewing and reporting on various items throughout Loan Operations including but not limited to: validating loan maintenance activity adhere to established procedures and regulations, HMDA data collection and quality control, SCRA monitoring, and acting as back-up for other Loan Operations staff. Acts as the department lead when manager is out ensuring department objectives are being met.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies and reviews all HMDA reportable loans/applications across all internal loan channels in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supports the maintenance of an accurate and complete HMDA Loan Application Register (LAR) by performing a monthly quality control to ensure all required data fields are captured and accurate. Provides feedback to front-line staff on errors and monthly report to Compliance team, ensuring HMDA is ready for submission according to regulation.
- Reviews loan maintenance files on a monthly basis to ensure adherence to regulatory and credit union guidelines. Provides feedback noting exceptions to policy and originating branch/officer for review by management.
- Supports Loan Operations Department initiatives; provides backup for other key components within the department.
- Responsible for granting relief under Service-Members Civil Relief Act, including ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and reporting.
- Maintains service levels for all loan operations turn-times as set forth by management.
- Acts as a resource for the Loan Operations Department and member facing employees. Assists with training and onboarding new team-members as directed by department supervisor/manager. Will act as an advocate and subject matter expert for the loan operations team by supporting and collaborating with other departments within the credit union.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A high school degree or equivalent. Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
FULL TIME POSITION
Starting Range: $19.47 - $21.79
Full Range: $18.54 - $27.81
ADA RequirementsPhysical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of local travel as driver and travel by commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
