Description
The Mail Clerk performs general clerical work in support of the central receiving & mailing/shipping area at USF Sarasota-Manatee. This position is responsible for duties such as processing outgoing packages as requested by the campus departments, properly metering outgoing postal letters and packages; completing various mail projects for departments; recording incoming mail and packages; Collecting and distributing of campus mail; Filing hard copy documents and maintaining records; and/or running varied errands.Education Level:Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma
Intermediate Level Computer Skills - Must be able to use the Internet, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other software applications.
Valid Florida Driver's License.
Additional Minimum Qualifications: This position may be required to stand for long periods of time. This position requires standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting heavy objects such as bins/bundles of mail; and use a hand cart to move heavy packages (up to 70 pounds for USPS and up to 100 pounds for FedEx). Must be able to walk around building for up to one hour; Copy Center duties require lifting box of copy paper (approximately 40 pounds) on to cart for transport around building. May remove reams and do individually if necessary (5 pounds). Must be able to bend, lift, pull & push copy drawers; Push cart; Must be able to stand at the machines to make copies, laminate, staple, punch holes, etc. Driving the golf cart.Working at USF

- Drives to and from the USF Tampa campus anywhere from 1 to 3 times per week. Delivers mail to Rozkamp Labs 1 timer per week.
- Receives, sorts, cases, and processes incoming mail. Weighs, meters, bundles and sorts outgoing mail according to US Postal Service requirements in preparation for inter-campus delivery or delivery via the USPS.
- Processes Undeliverable-As-Addressed (UAA) mail.
- Organizes and delivers mail to offices and departments.
- Picks up mail from main collection points such as drop boxes at specified times.
- Completes special mailing projects for departments or colleges. - Receives, signs for, and records overnight/priority mail and prepares outgoing mail and occasional UPS shipments.
- Assists with unloading delivery trucks.
- Sorts the incoming mail for delivery
- Stocks mail room supplies and verifies good received against shipping invoices.
- Performs inter-departmental courier duties for confidential or time sensitive packages.
- Assists in basic maintenance of sorting/processing machines
- Assists with daily record keeping such as assigning postage from metered mail to a specific department or account code.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested or needed.
Office Support:
- Covers the Copy Center as needed. Duties include delivering copy paper to approximately 20 machines located in workrooms around the building, answering phone
calls, helping users make copies,
- Covers for the Postal Supervisor as needed due to sick leave and vacation.
Fiscal Support:
- Assists the Postal Supervisor with invoicing departments for monthly usage of postage.
- Uses Pcard (USF procurement card from Visa) to purchase gasoline and repairs for the Courier van.
