Job Description:
Manufacturing Process Engineer (ME)
Summary: The Manufacturing Process Engineer drives production efficiency, defines process steps, models capacity, and creates detailed work instructions to industrialize the shop environment for wood acoustic products. This role ensures accurate job details, BOM creation, material requirements, and smooth handoff from project design to manufacturing. The engineer also leads process optimization, quality control, and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Process Design & Optimization
• Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Design and implement new processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
• Conduct capacity modeling, machine time analysis, and touch-time estimates.
• Implement industrial engineering principles to improve production flow and reduce waste.
B. Documentation & Technical Ownership
• Develop work instructions, process maps, and standard operating procedures.
• Create and maintain BOMs with Project Management and Buyer.
• Serve as gatekeeper for shop drawings, materials, and approved build documentation.
• Document procedures and process changes to maintain operational safety and compliance.
C. Shop Floor Engineering
• Partner with the Production Manager to support preventative maintenance and machine startup/shutdown procedures.
• Ensure readiness of materials, drawings, and job packets before release to production.
• Train staff on new processes and provide guidance and feedback.
• Investigate and troubleshoot any problems that arise with processes, procedures, and operations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing process engineering, preferably in wood products or acoustics.
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD and process simulation tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Certifications in Six Sigma or related methodologies are highly desirable.
