POSITION DESCRIPTION:
POSTING FOR BARGAINING UNIT MEMBERS ONLY
Primarily responsible for issuing and receiving digital media products to and from authorized personnel. The Media Data Technician B prepares media transmittal forms, receipts, and security documentation and is responsible for ensuring the proper handling and accountability of classified materials. This Tech will format, prepare, and label various forms of digital media and will download, process, organize, and archive data collected in the field as required. He/She will keep detailed records and maintain critical filing systems in compliance with security and other regulatory mandates. Additional responsibilities may include maintenance of calibration records, Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Logs, Vehicle Usage Reports, Lifting Equipment Inspection Records, and MSDS records.
The Tech may be asked to perform other duties as required, such as hardware/tool issue, field personnel monitoring, physical inspection of the building and secure the doors at the end of the workday. Assists in operations to query and monitor the downloading, storage, and transfer of data. Requires technical knowledge and practical application of PC based data bases, file systems, storage, Digital printers and ancillary equipment, media transfer, DVD duplicators, DVD/CD labeling and applicable software. This person is also responsible for the physical destruction of various forms of classified and unclassified media including, but not limited to, hard drives, complact flash cards, static storage devices, optical disks, and hard copy documentation. Work will include cross-utilization into other jobs as required.
The Media Data Tech B is a seasoned technician who has significant experience with range operations, particularly in the areas of media processing and handling. This technician is able to work independently with moderate supervision. The position requires demonstrated proficiency with office computer systems and software programs used in Media control operations, including file management, inventory management, transfer utilities and compliance with DoD Security Policies and Procedures, HazMat regulations and Material Safety Data Sheet libraries. The tech must have a detailed knowledge of procedures for handling both classified and unclassified material and be capable of maintaining accurate records for media control.
The successful candidate will adhere to SRS Standard Operating Procedures and DOD Security Regulations. Schedule may require overtime, early/late shifts, and some work on weekends and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a two-year resident course at a technical or other institute which provides training applicable to these job functions and two (2) years progressive experience in the specific field. A total of five (5) years progressive experience in a related field may be substituted for the education requirement but at least one of those years must involve experience handling/processing classified media. Must possess a valid driver's license. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Hazmat training and/or certification.
