Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is seeking a Medical Staff Coordinator to support the Credentialing Team at the RUHS Medical Center in Moreno Valley.About the Role
The Medical Staff Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of practitioner credentialing and privileging. Working with minimal supervision, this position reviews new provider applications, verifies credentials and experience, and maintains detailed, confidential records in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

- Demonstrate knowledge and ensures compliance with Medical Staff practices and procedures are in accordance with The Joint Commission, Title 22, and other Federal, State, and regulatory agencies, as well as overall Hospital policies.
- Knowledge Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ( ACGME )
- Experience with hospital-based medical staff office operations, including application processing, credentialing, privileging, re-appointment cycles, and compliance tracking
- Knowledge of MD-Staff or similar medical staff credentialing software systems
- Proficiency with credentialing databases and data management tools, including query/report generation and secure maintenance of electronic and/or paper credential files
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-resolution skills; ability to identify discrepancies (e.g. gaps in history, conflicting data), research issues, draw conclusions, and recommend compliant resolutions
- Excellent organizational, data-management, time-management, and prioritization skills, enabling concurrent handling of multiple applications, re-appointments, expirable, and deadlines
- Clear and professional communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of medical staff, department leadership, and hospital administration
- Discretion and sound independent judgment, especially regarding handling sensitive and confidential information
- Familiarity with hospital and clinical operations, including knowledge of clinical privilege criteria, performance-improvement processes, and project coordination principles
- CPCS and/or CPMSM certification (by NAMSS) preferred, but not required
Key Responsibilities
- Process credentialing and privileging applications; screen, verify credentials/license/education/training/experience, and prepare complete application packages for review
- Maintain and manage credentialing records and databases; ensure accurate, secure, and up-to-date electronic and physical files, track expirables and re-appointments
- Coordinate Medical Staff committee workflows; schedule meetings, prepare and distribute agendas, record minutes, follow up on committee decisions, notify providers and departments, and ensure database/privilege updates and file completion
- Support re-appointment cycles and expirables management; track license renewals, continuing education, and documentation deadlines to prevent lapsed privileges
- Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance; stay current with accreditation and regulatory standards and enforce adherence to hospital policies and governing bylaws
- Serve as liaison between providers, medical staff leadership, and hospital administration; facilitate communication and coordination regarding credentialing status, privileges, and renewal processes
Work Schedule
Options may include 5/40 or 9/80 schedules.
(Final schedule will be discussed during the interview and may vary based on departmental needs.)

To learn more about RUHS Medical Center, please visit www.ruhealth.org• Screen incoming requests for medical staff privileges; verify medical education, internship, residency, licensure, board certification, society membership(s), liability insurance carrier(s), references, and work histories.
• Ensure that all expirables are reviewed, obtained, and managed on a monthly basis.
• Refer applications to decision making authorities for reply; provide follow-up support by notifying applicants, department heads, and/or administrators of staff privilege extension, denial, or withdrawal.
• Establish and maintain credential files for all medical staff and allied health professional members; notify Medical Staff Officers and members of renewal requirements and procedures.
• Coordinate medical staff meetings by scheduling locations notifying attendees, preparing agendas, transcribing and maintaining minutes, recording member attendance, and distributing minutes; assist committee chairs by interpreting procedures and providing clerical support during the committee member appointment/reappointment process; maintain, by department, a roster of all attending medical staff members and their staff privilege categories.
• Coordinate and provide administrative support to RUHS's Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program; assist in the recruitment and selection of resident physicians; ensure compliance of GME program to the standards of Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.
• Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing/privileging database system and for ensuring the timeliness of credentialing/recredentialing verifications; contacting and following up with facilities to obtain documentation relevant to the credentialing process; and data entry of all credentialing information provided by medical facilities.Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a Certificate of Proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible, broad, and varied clerical experience, at least one year of which includes medical office experience in an acute care hospital or healthcare agency. Experience with a Credentialing Database software program strongly preferred.
Knowledge of: The functions and basic clerical operations of an administrative office; modern office methods and practices, including filing systems, business correspondence, receptionist techniques, report writing, and correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation; Joint Commission, federal and State regulations pertaining to medical staff operations; credentialing and privileging rules and guidelines of the ACGME.
Ability to: Interpret and apply administrative and departmental policies related to credentialing and privileging; Medical Executive Committee by-laws and rules with particular emphasis on compliance with federal and State hospital accreditation regulations; understand and follow complex directions, both oral and written; take responsibility and use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority; compose correspondence independently; keep complex records and prepare reports; meet with physicians and healthcare providers in a professional manner.General Information
