Department: English Salary: $15.00 per hour
Description:

Work ten (10) hours per week, Monday through Friday. Writing Associates will not be compensated for work completed over the weekend and/or when the university is closed.

Duties:

• Assist a UHD professor in face-to-face or online ENG 1301 Composition I, ENG 1302 Composition II, ENG 23XX Sophomore Literature, or TCOM 3302 Business and Technical Writing
• Meet regularly with the course instructor and review and discuss course materials and goals
• Attend all class sessions (if assisting in a face-to-face course) and hold office hours
• Comment on student writing assignments, under that direction of a course instructor
• Participate in class discussions
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Availability:

• Must have good communication skills
• Must have basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Canvas
• Must have the ability to multitask and interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff
• Must have general knowledge of the UHD campus and student services
• Must be reliable and punctual

Requirements:

• Must be a currently enrolled UHD graduate student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher or with permission of the MARC or MSTC graduate program director
• Must have successfully completed 6 graduate hours in the MARC or MSTC programs
• Must take at least 6 credit hours per semester of graduate courses during employment
