Also involves some job-related travel (less than 10% of time); exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, radiation, burns, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.ShiftMust be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week (1845-0715); shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and/or swing. Will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.Job SummaryThe paramedic will work a mixture of being on UK ambulances and in both UK Chandler and Good Samaritan emergency departments. Ambulance duties associated with this role will include responding to emergency calls on the UK medical campus, conducting long and short distance interfacility ambulance transports, specialty transports using ventilators, IV pumps, and other equipment. Duties will also include daily operational needs such as checking equipment, ambulance maintenance, etc. Paramedics will complement the nursing role in the emergency department, working within the Kentucky scope of practice, administering medications, charting, monitoring patients, and performing other patient care tasks.Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will have clinical care experience, including monitoring vital signs; inserting IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters; assisting with 12 lead EKGs; assisting with wound care; assisting with suctioning; and completing proper documentation.Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/ExperienceHigh School diploma or higher and three years of paramedic experience preferred.
