Description
JOB SUMMARY:Assist customers by accepting parts orders and processing them in the most expedient, efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Acknowledge customers. Set an example of good customer relations and intra-company cooperation.
- Write Parts Sales Orders (PSO).
- Know products sold and manufacturers represented.
- Receive mail-in purchase orders and confirming purchase orders. Make oral and written quotations to the customer.
- Use the customer account list when processing open account parts orders.
- Accept credit returns from customers.
- Accept after-hours parts calls. Build hoses for customers as needed.
- Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Parts and Service Sales Representative with all parts related questions or problems. Provide sales leads as they occur.
- Assist in all departmental duties. Maintain a working knowledge of Parts Department functions. This includes: Locate and price PSO's; pick, pack, back order, receive and ship a parts order; operate Parts Will Call; Accept Service Department orders; and operate computer terminal.
- Process cash sales.
- Works within and promotes corporate values.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist customers and employees in a professional manner.
- Ability to develop knowledge and use of Caterpillar and/or Allied reference sources.
- Sales techniques sufficient for recommending additional parts needed.
- Must have knowledge of Caterpillar parts, customer operations, customer transportation methods and Parts Department procedures and policies relating to Parts Sales Orders and Credit Memos.
- Ability to develop knowledge of Caterpillar and/or Allied parts, client operations, client transportation methods and Parts Department procedures and policies relating to Parts Sales Orders and Credit Memos.
- Ability to develop knowledge of Parts Exchange components, Caterpillar and Allied product lines and applications, and parts related work areas and their functions.
- Ability to develop proficiency in using DBS, SIS, Antares, and other computer programs in the performance of the job
- Mathematical skills sufficient for calculating discounts, taxes, and parts quotes.
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Prior experience in Parts, materials or similar industry preferred.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
