- Postdoctoral Research Fellow-CTCR-The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine
Description
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Center for Translational Cancer Research, The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular MedicineThe Lyu Lab is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a new and well-funded research program focused on cancer stress responses, proteostasis, and cancer therapeutic resistance. The lab is supported by funding from CPRIT and UTHealth, providing an exceptional platform for innovative basic and translational cancer research.
Recruited through a CPRIT Recruitment Award, Dr. Xiangdong Lyu joined UTHealth as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 2025. He is affiliated with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center / UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) through the Cancer Biology Program and Molecular & Translational Biology Program. Before that, Dr. Lyu conducted research as a DOD Breakthrough Fellowship Awardee at Baylor College of Medicine and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Lyu received his Ph.D. from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his B.S. degree from Shandong University.
The Lyu lab studies how cancer cells sense and response to stresses arising from the tumor microenvironment and therapeutic interventions. Our research aims to define the molecular mechanisms that drive tumorigenesis and resistance to targeted therapy and chemotherapy, with the ultimate goal of developing mechanism-based strategies to overcome these resistances. Dr. Lyu has published multiple first/co-first author papers in prestigious journals, such as: Science (PMID: 37676964), PLoS Biology (PMID: 24302888), Cell Research (PMID: 27002220), Development (PMID: 37013244), Journal of Biological Chemistry (PMID: 23532857), which have been highlighted in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, Cancer Discovery, Cell Chemical Biology, and The Innovation.
