Job Summary

The Production Test Technician 2 is responsible for performing a variety of electrical, mechanical, and optical tests on Viavi products to ensure they meet quality and performance standards before shipment. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, maintaining test equipment, and contributing to process improvements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute defined test procedures on a range of Viavi products, including optical network components, fiber optic test equipment, and related systems, using specialized test equipment and software.
• Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing in accordance with established test plans and specifications.
• Analyze test results, identify deviations from specifications, and accurately record all test data.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose product failures down to the component level, utilizing schematics, block diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and improve product yield.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment, ensuring its accuracy and proper functioning.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and quality control standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including developing and refining test procedures and identifying opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Document test processes, equipment status, and product issues in a clear and concise manner.
• May assist in the training of less experienced technicians.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in a production test or manufacturing environment, preferably within the telecommunications, optics, or electronics industry.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electronic and/or optical assemblies.
• Experience with various test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and optical test sets.
• Familiarity with computer-controlled test systems and data acquisition software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic production setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds as needed.
