We are hiring immediately for a Programmer Analyst II to join the Center for Outcome Research at UTHealth Houston in Houston, Tx. In this position, you will work with faculty investigators and senior staff to create the coding required to extract data to support research projects. Ideal candidate should have strong SQL programming skills and experience with software such as SAS, R or Python. Experience with large-scale electronic health record (EHR) data repositories such as Epic Cosmos and Cerner Real-World Data is preferred.What we do here changes the world. Position Summary:
The Center for Outcome Research has a series of projects related to health outcomes and clinical trials. The Programmer Analyst II works with faculty, researchers and senior staff to create the coding required to extract data from EHR data repositories and other sources to support researchers' questions. Responsible for developing program specifications, writing and maintaining programs, coding and testing programs. This position encourages creative thinking and depends on the ability to work productively with a wide range of team members including data scientists, experienced programmers, biostatisticians and project managers, etc.

Responsible for developing program specifications, writing and maintaining programs, coding and testing programs. Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Interviews clients/users and departmental personnel for problem definition to ensure that the program is written that fits the user's needs or changes are made to resolve any existing problems.
2. Develops program specifications for programming modules, programs specifications, testing, JCL and documentation ensuring conformity and consistency with system and department standards.
3. Writes, tests, and implements computer programs. Codes straight-forward to moderately complex programs and ensures that the programs conform to departmental standards.
4. Assists with acceptance testing of purchase software and/or upgrades to existing system software to ensure user/clients needs are met.
5. Participates in structured technical and functional walk-through with project team members and reports status of programming to Project Manager on a regular basis to ensure a full understanding of the program and the status of completion.
6. Resolves problems that arise with existing production systems to ensure the efficiency and proper functioning of programs and systems.
7. Other duties as assigned
Certification/Skills:
Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and programming.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of programming experience, preferably in a clinical research environment or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position.
