This is a one-year position from September 2026 through August 2027.
The Psychology Postdoctoral Resident will:
- Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, provide culturally-responsive mental health services to PSU students including: brief individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, brief consultation/triage and emergency services.
- Participate in supervision of supervision with a psychology practicum student (assuming staffing and trainee positions are adequately filled).
- Receive training in conducting neurodiversity affirming psychological evaluations for LD/ADHD and will be expected to complete at least 1 evaluation during the residency year
- Participate in a secondary specialization training activity for the year (e.g., LD/ADHD assessment, intercultural communication).
- Be involved in psychoeducational outreach and consultation with faculty and staff.
- Work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team of professionals committed to meeting the diverse mental health needs of a global student community.
- Be an active participant in staff and clinical team meetings, professional development and clinical in-service activities.
- Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in psychology (PsyD, PhD, EdD) by start date of Residency (this includes internship and completion of dissertation).
- Ability, with supervision, to provide a range of clinical services including initial assessment, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention and clinical case management.
- Supervision experience or education.
- Skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the needs of students of color, students from indigenous communities, LGBTQ+ students, international students, veterans, students from diverse religious affiliations, undocumented students, first generation students or neurdivergent students.
- Experience with supervision of supervision during doctoral internship year.
- Bilingual or multilingual counseling skills.
- Experience working in a university or college counseling center.
- Knowledge of laws and ethics that apply to psychologists and demonstrated adherence to those standards.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with colleagues and clients.
- Effective time management skills especially as they pertain to completing recordkeeping tasks in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team of health and mental health professionals.
• Functions and communicates effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities and cultural backgrounds.
• Seeks opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement
• Adheres to all PSU's policies including the policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and the Professional Standards of Conduct.Environmental StewardshipContributes to a culture of environmental stewardship, practices resource conservation, and actively works toward achieving long-term sustainability goals.Work Days/Hours40 hours/week M-F to be scheduled between 8am and 6pm. Some remote work may be available, however this is subject to change based on operational needs of SHAC and university guidelines.Total Compensation Range & Benefits StatementThe starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $54,072 and 58,044 with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependant at any of the Oregon University System schools.
