- Quality Engineer
Description
The Quality Engineer is a key contributor in the implementation and evaluation of our Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures manufacturing processes and operations consistently meet stringent quality, integrity, and efficiency standards. The Quality Engineer is responsible for analyzing inspection data, proactively conducting in-process inspections, leading internal audits, and driving corrective action investigations. Reporting to the Director of Quality, you will collaborate with cross-functional management and production teams, making a direct impact on product conformance and operational excellence. This is an individual contributor role with no direct supervisory responsibilities.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure product conformance and verify parts and components meet quality, integrity, functionality, and specific customer requirements.
- Lead data analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and guide efforts to enhance quality metrics and operational efficiency.
- Manage QMS controlled documents, including drafting, formatting, finalizing, and releasing approved versions within the document control system.
- Conduct internal quality system audits and support customer and third-party audits to ensure strict compliance with industry standards (AS9100 and ISO 9001).
- Develop, maintain, and refine quality control documentation (checklists, logs, reports) for effectiveness and accuracy.
- Create bubble drawings using DISCUS and prepare AS9102 forms to ensure part, characteristic, and traceability accountability for all FAI submissions.
- Review and analyze inspection data from CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines), GOM Inspect, and hard check sheets. Compile findings for Material Review Board (MRB) evaluations, maintain MRB logs, and communicate actions.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for suppliers and customers regarding returns or concerns. Manage customer waivers and non-conforming material disposition.
- Ensure all shipment certification packages are complete, accurate, and include all necessary documentation: Certificate of Conformance, process documentation, material certifications, inspection/testing reports, and full traceability records.
- Perform dimensional inspections of complex Additive Manufacturing (AM) parts and assemblies using various metrology equipment. Program and operate CMMs using ZEISS CALYPSO software and utilize GOM Inspect (or similar) for data analysis.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience [1].
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical drawings, GD&T symbols, and specifications].
- Strong knowledge of quality system methodologies with practical experience using AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting is required [1].
- Experience with DISCUS, ZEISS CALYPSO, or GOM Inspect software, and knowledge of Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes are highly desired [1].
- Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
