Description
Position Summary
Arnold Magnetic Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our Quality Control Department. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, strong analytical skills, and a passion for maintaining high-quality standards. While prior industry experience is preferred, we are willing to train and develop the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process, final, and first-piece inspections to ensure product conformance to engineering specifications and blueprints.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, applying basic GD&T principles.
- Create and maintain inspection documentation including FAIRs, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Assist with conducting quality audits and in maintaining AS9100/ISO9001 quality systems.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support root cause analysis, RMA/MRB reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Train operators on visual standards, deburring, and in-process inspection procedures.
- Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection equipment is in proper working condition.
- Participate in FMEA and capability (Cp/Cpk) or Gage R&R studies as required.
- Analyze magnetic material compliance to chemical and magnetic standards using XRF and hysteresis graph data.
- Perform other tasks as requested by management.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering, or quality is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance or inspection within a manufacturing environment.
- Background in machining, foundry, heat treat, or magnetic materials is a plus.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation (basic GD&T required).
- Strong understanding of measurement methods and metrology principles.
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Strong math and geometry/trigonometry skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SPC, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.
- Familiarity with AS9100/ISO9001 quality systems.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Experience with Keyence IM systems and Net-Inspect portals.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality software tools.
