Overview
FLSA: Non-Exempt. This is a professional nursing position at Hillview-The Evergreens. This is a position under the direction of the Director of Nursing. This position entails supervising staff, assessing tenants, planning, coordinating, and implementing professional services to ensure quality and meet the individual needs of tenants.

Essential Job Functions
Maintains a professional environment.
Directs and implements skilled nursing, supportive, and personal care activities.
Assists in the development and implementation of nursing policies. Trains and supervises Resident Care Assistants.
Ensures ongoing development of staff. Gives in-service education programs to team as needed per Health and Family Services Regulations HFS 89. This includes but is not limited to Medication Administration and Medication management.
Assess tenants before admission and work with families to determine if Hillview Terrace Assisted Living is an appropriate placement for the prospective tenant.
Completes necessary paperwork, care plans, and agreements with families; reviews handbook, policies, and procedures; and gives tours. Maintains availability for questions and collaborates with the Community Living Supervisor.
Oversees tenant care interfaces with other healthcare providers (home health agencies and family care providers). Coordinates and assists other consulting healthcare professionals such as dentists, opticians, and psychiatrists, i.e., setting up appointments, offering additional services, and updating Risk and Service agreements as needed.
Documents as necessary comprehensive tenant updates and care plan; consult with tenants. Review tenant orders with the prescribing physician and supervise the physician care plan implementation.
Prepares various daily, weekly, and monthly reports and documents wholly and accurately observations and procedures relating to tenant care and personnel-related matters.
Works safely and follows safety practices and standards of the facility; responsible for reporting or correcting any existing or potential safety or accident hazard; instructs staff to do the same.
Maintains a pleasant disposition and displays compassion and a smile when dealing with residents. Maintains positive, cooperative, and helpful relationships with other employees, tenants, visitors, and supervisors.
The employee is expected to report to work when scheduled.
In this public service position, the employee must always be courteous, cooperative, and respectful with the public and clients. Establish and maintain a warm, collaborative, and respectful working relationship with other employees, supervisors, and public officials.
Maintains tenant rights and confidentiality of tenant information; reports all suspected cases of tenant abuse to the Administrator; instructs staff to do the same.
Physical demands
Sits at a desk, uses hearing near vision, talks to department staff and residents.
Sits, stands, bends, reaches, and moves about the facility intermittently throughout the shift.
Handles papers and manuals, lift files, copy paper, and other office materials.
Some time is spent sitting, bending/twisting, reaching (over beds), feeling (checking tenants), and low amounts of handling (insulin caps and IV tubing) and low fingering for taking a pulse.
Activities done about 10% of the time include stooping, crouching, low to very high lifting - up to 60 lbs. to transfer patients and pushing patients in wheelchairs.
Uses nursing-related equipment such as blood pressure devices, thermometers, glucometers, scales, and mechanical lifts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to make independent decisions and maintain current knowledge of nursing practice standards, medical practices and procedures, and state and federal regulations governing assisted living facilities.
Ability to work with diverse resident populations, which include older adults, persons with developmental disabilities, and mental illness.
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theories, practices, and skills, including the nursing process, assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care.
Ability to establish and maintain practical, positive, and professional interpersonal relations with other staff members, health care professionals, and families.
Ability to take initiative, participate, maintain a good sense of humor, adapt to unpredictable situations, and respond quickly, correctly, and calmly in an emergency.
Ability to maintain records and record observations with accuracy and clarity.
Flexibility to adjust the schedule to meet departmental needs and workload.
Training, Experience and Other Requirements
Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Wisconsin and CPR Certification. Nursing experience in an assisted living facility is preferred.
May consider other relevant combinations of education and experience that provide equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must pass a background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law.
