Department Overview
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is a nationally prominent research university, and Oregon's only public academic health center. OHSU was awarded Magnet Re-designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2022. The Medical ICU is a Beacon Award winning unit at OHSU. As a unit we focus on providing both evidence-based and trauma informed care to all our patients. The Medical ICU strives to provide the highest level of nursing care to our patients and families and to ensure patient outcomes through evidence-based nursing practice. We foster a healthy work environment in our team oriented high acuity ICU. . Our MICU offers lots of opportunities for nurses to grow their practice in devices, such as CRRT and ECMO, in addition to frontline leadership roles. The Medical Intensive Care Unit utilizes a multidisciplinary team approach to the care we provide to our patients: 40kg weight minimum, age generally not less than 16 years with no upper age limit. Diagnoses include but are not limited to:
- Pulmonary HypertensionSevere Septic ShockAcute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)Organ FailuresBone Marrow TransplantPost Cardiac and Respiratory ArrestAlcohol and drug withdrawGI BleedPatients also may present with extensive preexisting co-morbidities requiring the services of teams such as Nephrology, Pain Service, Infectious Disease, etc.
$55.24 - $92.02 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN's care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role™]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN's engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. Required Qualifications
- 1 year of critical care RN experience
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS at time of hire
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
