Job Title: AccountantReports To: Controller
Summary
Research Tool & Die Works powered by Fairbanks Morse Defense is seeking a motivated individual to fill an Accountant position at our facility located in Carson, CA. The ideal candidate will be required to take ownership of multiple accounting responsibilities such as general ledger and quoting/pricing among other duties. The candidate will work closely with accounting team members at our Carson, CA location to ensure all necessary processes are completed in compliance with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and be able to develop binding relationships across all functional areas within the organization, as well as with customers and vendors. The candidate must exhibit a high degree of ethics, detail, and organizational aptitude. Research Tool & Die Works will consider candidates who are ready to fulfil this role in its entirety and candidates who have the aptitude and desire to quickly grow into this role.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely completion of necessary accounting responsibilities. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including customer quoting, building estimates, monthly account reconciliations, monthly journal voucher entries, and support of year-end audit preparation. The accountant will have regular contact with the Controller and will have day-to-day interactions with other members of the accounting team.
- Responsible for assisting with monthly closing activities of Research Tool & Die Works. This role will take ownership of certain monthly account reconciliations and other procedures.
- Responsible for AP and AR - invoicing, processing cash receipts, entering AP invoices, and payment processing.
- Manage and maintain customer and vendor relations.
- Assist with Fixed Asset Management and Tracking.
- Assist with special projects on group wide initiatives, process simplification and specific projects as requested.
- Assist in other accounting duties such as budgeting, forecasting, reporting, inventory management, etc.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred), Business, or related field from an accredited university.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1 to 3 years of related experience performing the responsibilities described above preferred, but not required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong organizational and communications skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
- Proficient in use of an ERP computer software package Syspro is a plus, but not required.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Proficient in Excel.
- This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Acceptable proof of this status includes a US Passport, Permanent Resident Card, US birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. Maintenance, including renewal, of licensing authorization is a condition of employment. Government authorization may be a suitable alternative after review on a case-by-case basis.
- This is a full-time 40 hour per week position; however, overtime will be scheduled as need. The standard shift is from 7:00AM-4:15PM Monday-Thursday and 7:00AM-12:00PM on Friday.
