GA Foods is currently seeking a Senior Buyer for our St. Petersburg location. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for planning, buying and tracking raw materials, supplies and packaging goods for food manufacturing to meet production demands/inventory levels for multi-state company. They will participate with the R&D team and maintain effective vendor relations. The Senior Buyer must have the ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily tasks where judgment must be made regarding completing demands on time. Must be able to successfully utilize in-house custom-build MRP and inventory data tools to schedule, analyze and buy goods. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter and team player with working knowledge and minimum three years proven successful experience working as a senior-level Buyer in the food Industry.

Senior Buyer Essential Functions:

• Entering and managing dozens of purchase orders for raw materials, supplies and packaging
• Plan, schedule, order & track product using tools, reports and systems
• Create and use dashboard reporting to monitor and analyze procurement status
• Monitor production schedules to ensure required materials are on hand
• Work closely with production planning, inventory control, unit managers and accounting
• Expedite materials and source substitutes to avoid product shortages, as needed
• Responsible for monitoring the disposition of obsolete materials
• Handle supplier returns for rejected products and help resolve supplier's quality issues
• Complete vendor or product analysis when sourcing new products or looking for alternatives
• Partner with R&D team on product development initiatives that require support from procurement
• Troubleshoot problems and assist others in solving supply chain issues or inefficiencies
• Track purchase price variances by product
• Special projects as needed

Senior Buyer Qualifications:

• College degree, preferred
• Supply chain certifications, preferred
• 5+ years of experience in supply chain
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to forecast and keep pace with industry supply trends

Senior Buyer Preferred skills:

• Experience using modern MRP/ERP system
• Microsoft Dynamics NAV is strongly preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasional visits to the warehouse or supplier facilities may be required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a desk-bound role with typical office noise; however, frequent movement throughout the office is required. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking are daily activities. Occasional warehouse visits may involve exposure to varied temperatures and environmental conditions. Some bending and filing may be required (<10% of time). This would require the ability to lift files (<10 lbs.), open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Over 2/3 of Time: See; Sit; Use hands to finger/handle/feel; Talk or Hear.

Position Type:
