Job Description
Bose is a research company dedicated to developing breakthrough technologies and quality products that enrich people's lives. We created the market for noise cancelling headphones, but this is just the beginning.
The Premium Consumer Audio Division is looking for a hands-on control systems engineer to implement and refine industry-leading low-latency, real-time algorithms for noise cancellation, sound control, and audio products. The candidate will work within multi-disciplinary teams to optimize noise reduction control systems and DSP algorithms as well as influencing the design of future HW/SW platforms to bring about a new wave of amazing experiences and benefits for our customers.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test control systems for noise cancelling headphones
- Lead pre-development of algorithms for new ANR headphone capabilities using inputs from a variety of sources and sensors
- Conduct and oversee electroacoustic measurements and perform analysis of results
- Use and develop simulation tools to design and predict closed-loop / real-time system behavior
- Guide development of future ANR platforms
- Develop early versions of new products for real world testing
- Support development projects as an individual contributor and/or team leader from concept development through product delivery to the market
- Collaborate with engineering team members across HW disciplines, DSP engineers, and software developers
Skills and Experience
- BS in Acoustical, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering. MS or PhD preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience in the area of control systems design
- Understanding of fundamental control system theory and stability analysis
- Experience with digital systems required, but familiarity with analog systems very desirable
- Experience with MATLAB for data analysis, simulation and visualization
- Experience in developing and deploying real-time algorithms to embedded platforms using fundamental digital signal processing methods/techniques
- Experience using various techniques for robust data acquisition
- Experience converting concepts into technical requirements and describing the associated tradeoffs
- Knowledge of digital filter theory and practice, hands-on knowledge of real-time adaptive and optimization methods a plus
- Demonstrated capability to work on and solve ill-defined problems with creative and innovative solutions and methods
- Demonstrated creativity, self-motivation, and strong communication skills
- Solid understanding of basic acoustic and audio principles is highly desirable
- Passion for audio and listening

The hiring range for this position in the primary work location of Framingham, Massachusetts is: $112,600-$154,750.The hiring range for other Bose work locations may vary.
