Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The incumbent is a key member of the Operations team and is responsible for developing localization solutions and workflows, timely and accurate completion of projects, working closely with Client Managers to maximize revenue opportunities, and building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with clients. While filling a leadership role in the company, the Senior PM may serve as a mentor to Project Managers and provide project supervision over one or more Project Managers.
The incumbent is expected to exercise initiative, discretion and independent judgment in the administration and management of each client relationship, and will serve as a primary point of contact for the client. The Senior Project Manager position is critical to the overall success of the company
It is essential for the Senior Project Managers to build, develop, and nurture relationships with the client and in-house staff to ensure that their requirements are met, and that localized projects deliver on time, within budget, and to acceptable standards. Good communication abilities are needed to deal with the large number of concurrent activities and people that are involved in servicing the client.
Primary Duties
- Build strong personal relationship with current and prospective clients.
- Identify new business opportunities from existing clients and communicate them to the Sales team.
- Develop and execute solutions for current and prospective clients.
- Support the Sales team as needed to help close new business opportunities.
- Maintain close contact with the client whenever an issue is at stake to ensure proper resolution.
- Provide management with feedback and recommendations on necessary changes to streamline and or improve the company's processes, procedures, and services.
- Provide supervision and mentoring and/or manage Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
- Work with the Sales team and Project Managers to develop a schedule for projects and assure adequate communication lines are used during projects.
- Maintain and update key LanguageLine business systems, such as WorkFront, LLTS Wiki, and other DB's to note all relevant client communications
- Represent LanguageLine at trade shows, expositions, and conferences when necessary.
- Conduct visits to current and (possibly) prospective clients.
- Contribute to the Process and Quality Improvement Initiative by participating on cross- functional teams.
- Arrange and assign linguists for projects.
- Within the project scope, manage the relationships with linguists to encourage cooperation.
- Manage contractors to ensure their delivery of product on time.
- Monitor quality control procedures to ensure that all quality checks are completed.
- Consistently track projects; report status and key issues to Account Executives.
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with the required level of quality.
- Communicate directly with clients concerning all manner of project-related activity, including change order parameters and project status.
- Authorize and sign-off on projects being delivered to clients. Ensure that projects are delivered to the clients' specifications and expectations, and in a manner befitting to a world-class organization.
- Provide training and consulting services to Project Managers and participate as a consultant for systems development activities.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the, President, Operations Manager, Director of Engineering or Translation Manager.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of MS Word suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)
- Thorough knowledge of project management fundamentals as they apply to the localization industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Foreign language skills a plus.
Appropriate Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of database functions and concepts.
- Must be very resourceful, with the ability to work independently.
- Must have proven organizational and communication skills.
