Description
This position assesses, diagnoses, treats, educates, and helps to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency. Speech-Language Pathologists/Audiologists use special instruments and qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, including standardized tests, to analyze and diagnose the nature and extent of impairments. Nature of Work: Speech-Language Pathologists/Audiologists support a variety of areas in a health clinic or can be assigned primarily to one specialty area, such as or Pediatrics. They may also work in a school, or as part of a program or outreach project. This position typically reports to a managing clinician, physician, program/project director, or other position as appropriate. This exempt position works under little to no supervision when working with patients. A Speech-Language Pathologist/Audiologist routinely diagnoses and evaluates patients with a variety of speech and/or hearing delays and impairments. This position requires the use of a variety of special instruments (video fluoroscopy, EMG, nasendoscopy, stroboscopy) to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of communication, swallowing, or other upper aero digestive functions. A Speech-Language Pathologist/Audiologist may perform their job as part of an interdisciplinary team, and would typically have contact with: patients, patient's family, physicians, social workers, psychologists, and other therapists. School-based pathologists/audiologists will typically collaborate with teachers, special educators, counselors, interpreters, and other school personnel.A master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and possession of the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; or possession of a certificate to practice speech-language pathology or audiology in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes.Working at USF

Prepares written recommendations for treatment to improve the speech-language or hearing ability of individuals.
Writes reports on individuals receiving treatment.
Conducts treatment sessions on an individual or group basis based on the development of treatment plans.

Utilizes appropriate diagnostic and treatments materials and instrumentation for the purpose of differential diagnosis, treatment, and the evaluation of treatment outcomes.
Lectures on and demonstrates the principles, approaches and procedures of differential diagnosis and the treatment of speech-language or hearing disorders.
Evaluates student performance in clinical practice courses.
Facilitates the process of obtaining funding for equipment and services related to difficulties with communication and swallowing.
Provides referrals and information to other professionals, agencies, and/or consumer organizations.

Bay Area Early Steps is currently seeking a Florida Licensed Speech therapist to join our team in servicing children residing in Hillsborough COUNTY, FLORIDA. Early Steps is the State of Florida's early intervention program designed to support infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months) who have developmental delays or are at risk for them. Early Steps emphasizes collaboration with families, helping them build skills and confidence to support their child's development. Early Steps operates as part of Children's Medical Services and falls under IDEA Part C, a federal law that ensures early intervention services for eligible children
This role focuses on delivering early intervention services using a coaching and routines-based model, with care provided in the child's natural environment-whether at home, daycare, or other community settings. The therapist will work closely with families to support developmental progress through individualized strategies and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clinic based developmental evaluations and therapeutic interventions
- Develop Plans of Care
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individualized Family Support Plans (IFSPs
-Provide therapy services in the child's natural environment
- Collaborate with internal staff and contracted providers to ensure coordinated care
- Monitor service quality and maintain accurate documentation that adheres to programmatic requirements
- Ensure compliance with contract timelines and deliverables
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Travel r equired minimum 3 days/week - mileage reimbursed
