We are seeking a Sr Data Analyst to drive analytics, data modeling, and business intelligence in our Planning and Performance organization. This role delivers high-quality insights and decision-support tools through advanced Power BI development, robust data modeling, and cloud-based analytics using Azure and Databricks. The ideal candidate combines strong technical capability with the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable data products that support long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational performance reviews. Experience with upstream oil & gas data structures and planning workflows is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform Business Intelligence. Develop, maintain Power BI reports, decision-support tools. Perform descriptive & diagnostic analytics. Communicate in business-friendly, clear formats to technical, non-technical, and executive stakeholders.
- Model & Engineer Data. Build, maintain data products to support business initiatives.
- Engage Cross Functionally. Partner with Planning, Operations, Finance, and Subsurface teams. Translate business needs into solutions.
- Support Business Functions. Support Long Range Planning (LRP), Budget, Monthly Forecasting, and Operational Reviews.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- 7 or more years' experience as a Data Analyst
- Deep understanding of Power BI, able to plan and design solutions from business needs, optimize performance, and mentor others.
- Experience with SQL. Writes complex joins, window functions, CTEs; designs data models and transformations using best practices; able to convert business questions into SQL pipelines.
- Deep understanding of Data Modeling. Designs dimensional schemas, medallion architectures. Understands data modeling best practices. Translates business processes into scalable data structures.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years' experience in Oil & Gas Data analytics.
- Experience with Oil & Gas forecasting or planning teams.
- Familiarity with Upstream Oil & Gas data structures (wells, pads, AFEs, production volumes, reserves, cost categories, downtime events, development schedules, etc).
- Experience with Python. Able to build analytical workflows using pandas, numpy, and visualization or data-processing libraries.
- Experience with Azure & Databricks. Works effectively within Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Azure Databricks (ADB). Has built analytics workflows including data ingestion, transformation, and environment management. Comfortable using PySpark, Spark SQL in ADB for data exploration, transformation.
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
