As an IT Software Engineering Co-Op, you will get hands-on experience in the software engineering domain, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to critical technical projects while developing practical skills in a real-world environment.
As a co-op, you will work alongside experienced engineers to help design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions that support real business needs. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to both internal tools and customer-facing applications, while learning professional development workflows and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement new features and enhancements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- Contribute to unit tests, integration tests, and code reviews to ensure software quality.
- Assist in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving bugs or technical issues.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Document software functionality, development workflows, and technical decisions.
- Conduct research and help evaluate new tools, frameworks, or technologies.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and collaborative design sessions.
- Participates in the company's efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
- Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment.
- Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts such as version control, data structures, and algorithms.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and work with our company values.
Preferred
- Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Familiarity with modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Django, Node.js).
- Exposure to REST APIs, databases (SQL or NoSQL), or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Personal or academic projects demonstrating software development experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the work day.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
