Job Description: Surface Prep TechnicianPosition Summary
The Surface Prep Technician is responsible for preparing components and materials for finishing processes in accordance with established specifications, safety standards, and production schedules. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Training will be provided to ensure proper use of equipment, tools, and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces of metal, plastic, or composite components through approved methods such as sanding, grinding, blasting, or cleaning.
- Perform masking, degreasing, and inspection of parts to ensure compliance with quality requirements prior to finishing or coating.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and surface preparation equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Interpret and follow work instructions, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Monitor and maintain assigned equipment, reporting any mechanical or process-related issues to supervision.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment consistent with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with production team members to achieve departmental goals and production targets.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and apply new processes.
- Basic proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, or production equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift components weighing up to 50 pounds as required.
- Prior experience working with precision measuring tools, including micrometers, indicators, etc. preferred, but not required
- Prior manufacturing or industrial experience preferred but not required.
- To be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
