POSITION SUMMARY:The Tech Academy Instructor I assists participants in upskilling for the digital workplace. This role facilitates every step of the process from initial assessments to determine client needs through in-person and virtual instruction. Throughout this work, the Instructor will collaborate closely with department and divisional team members to identify opportunities for jobseekers. Instruction includes a variety of topics ranging from basic digital awareness to conducting industry-recognized technology certification training. The Instructor creates a positive learning environment that supports the unique needs and experiences of each client. This role also provides support and customized training to agency team members with the goal of improving their digital literacy knowledge and application.
This role is primarily based in Pittsburgh, PA, with required travel to support training and outreach at other sites within Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The schedule is Monday Friday with three evening shifts per week. Schedule subject to change with advance notice dependent on services needed.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate admissions, assessment, and intake process for program applicants to ensure successful achievement of learning outcomes
- Work with Career Services, Welcome Center, and other Goodwill departments to coordinate unified plans for service delivery and employment goals.
- Monitor and track usage of department laptops, including software updates and required maintenance, in conjunction with Goodwill Tech Academy department staff and IT.
- Facilitate classes/workshops covering digital skills topics from technology awareness to entry-level digital careers.
- Complete regular check-ins with clients through phone and email to evaluate progress towards goals and encourage service retention
- Upon request, create curriculum and facilitate customized training to meet agency team member training needs related to digital skills.
- Inform and advise Goodwill staff and leadership related to customer needs and local provider trends.
- Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and changes in the local digital workforce landscape.
- Escalate client concerns when appropriate to ensure successful intervention for participant success
Schedule: Monday Friday (8:00am 4:00pm). With 3 evening shifts per week. Can vary depending on department needs.
External Hiring Range: $18.25-$18.98/hour
Retention Incentive: $1,500 distributed in three installments (3 months, 6 months, 9 months)
QUALIFICATIONS:- High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 5 years experience required. OR
- Associates' Degree AND 3 years experience required. OR
- Bachelors' Degree AND 1 year of experience required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with developing curriculum for adult audiences and instructional design
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar business collaboration platforms)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Currently holds CompTIA Tech+ credential (will be expected to obtain within 45 days of hire; cost of certification covered by employer)
- Candidates are expected to provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to first day of employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
