Position Summary:
The temporary Enrollment Services Specialist II plays a key role in the operations unit of the Office of Enrollment at Rice University, a highly selective research institution located in the heart of Houston, Texas. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the public on matters related to admissions and financial aid. The specialist responds to inquiries from prospective students, parents, school counselors, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders regarding Rice's admission and financial aid requirements, policies, procedures, and deadlines. In addition, the Enrollment Services Specialist II manages data entry and maintains student records from a wide range of sources to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems

Workplace Requirements:
This is a 6-month, temporary position with no guarantee of extension or continuation beyond the stated term. After completing a fully in-person training period, the role may be performed in a hybrid format, combining in-office and remote work to support flexibility and collaboration. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range:
$17.00 hourly, benefits eligible, non-exempt.
*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of related experience
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
Skills:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proven organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and database systems
- Strong problem-solving and judgment skills
- Collaborative team player with initiative and reliability
- Commitment to confidentiality and data integrity
Preferences:
- Three or more years' directly related experience in customer service, data processing, records management, and/or imaging solutions preferably in a higher education setting
- Call center experience
- Experience handling documentation associated with Offices of Admission, Registrar, and Student Financial Services/Financial Aid literacy strongly preferred
Essential Functions:
- Answers incoming calls and email requests for information
- Enters information into appropriate software applications to maintain accurate records
- Runs and analyzes basic reports
- Processes registrations and applications
- Expedites, researches, and resolves complex issues; coordinates with other staff when needed
Additional Functions:
- Process application materials, index documents, audit student records for missing information, and perform data integrity audits to ensure that items are accurately processed
- Reviews transcripts and enters grade point averages and final class ranks
- Performs audits of own work or that of others to ensure compliance with established procedures
- Determines appropriate action to be taken for duplicate, inaccurate, or unclear information
- Identifies and elevates cases of poor academic performance
- Compiles appropriate materials and mails information packets to prospective students
- Assists other units during peak times to support the goals of the department
- Performs other duties as assigned
