Description
Job DescriptionPlan, design, construct or repair all types of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, etc. Determine metal requirements in jigs, fixtures, and dies; select allowances, and perform difficult and involved tool room machine operations at the level consistent with the education and/or experience required.
Responsibilities
JOB DUTIES
- Design, plan, construct and repair all types of tools such as: dies, fixtures, gages, molds and special equipment of the highest intricacy.
- Maintain accurate relationship, fitting and interchangeability of parts requires the maintenance of extremely close tolerances or fits.
- Use outstanding ingenuity and judgement to construct tools where no design is available.
- Selecting and advising on various grades of steel, knowing the working qualities and strength and be capable of hardening, tempering and annealing of metals as required.
- Perform difficult and involved development of new tooling and diagnose problems. Tolerances and fits +.0001.
- Work with a multitude of plastics and composite materials
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light physical effort; occasionally handling of heavy tools or dies. Majority of time spent planning or laying out work and performing machining operations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical machine shop conditions. Use of various machines involves some dirt, oil, chips, etc
- Protective eyewear required
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 6 years experience in the design, construction, alteration, and repair of complicated tools, dies, fixtures, gages, molds and special equipment.
- Must be a US Citizen
- An ability to work overtime as required
HOURLY PAY RATE: $41.89/hour
