General Summary
The Toxicology Business Development Specialist is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities for the organization's preclinical research services. This role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and academic research sectors, while aligning client needs with the CRO's capabilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for sales of Southern Research services within the assigned territory.
- Proficient understanding of the drug discovery process with an emphasis on toxicology.
- Prospect for the client persona that requires toxicology services for use in drug discovery.
- Develop and support client relationships through various collaborative approaches including face to face meetings.
- Provide recommendations and feedback for operational strategy needed to meet client requirements.
- Work with operational functions to develop study designs and structure to meet client needs.
- Build and document territory and regional business plans that will define achievement of sales targets.
- Report on competitor activities.
- Provide monthly reports including KPIs/Metrics that define success.
- Leverage the CRM for territory performance and reporting.
- Promote customer satisfaction by rapid response times to customer inquiries.
- Work with Marketing to develop collateral that is impactful and differentiating to the toxicology community.
- Accomplish effectiveness in presentations to internal and external clients.
- Provide feedback and analysis to improve/adjust/expand the toxicology service offerings and strategy.
- Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time.
- Complete expense reports per policy
- Performs other duties as assigned including supporting the broader sales team.
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
- MS, DVM, or PhD in Toxicology related field; minimum of twenty years relevant work experience
- Knowledge of federal procurement regulations (FAR, DFAR, and other agency FAR supplements) and experience with commercial business principles.
- Strong business acumen, with demeanor and ability to work comfortably and confidently with senior management.
- Proven ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment with limited supervision; excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to thoroughly understand and apply SR's policies, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and ability to develop, communicate and implement successful strategic initiatives for multiple stakeholders with sometimes conflicting/competing objectives and goals.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; goal-oriented.
- Advanced leadership and project management skills; excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; strong customer focus.
- Adaptable to new challenges.
