Description
Department: Police Salary: Commensurate with Experience/EducationDescription:
Receives emergency and non-emergency requests from the University community and dispatches calls to University Police Officers using a police radio.
1. Responds to requests for service, information and other business that comes into the police department by telephone, emergency call box or made in person at the public service window.
2. Transmits requests for service and related information to the appropriate Police Officer using a police radio.
3. Inputs information into a computer database; reviews and corrects data as necessary.
4. Monitors campus fire and burglar alarm systems, acknowledges triggered alarms, and dispatches officers when needed.
5. Operates radio consoles, portable radios, dictaphone recorder, telecopier and other equipment located in the communications center.
6. Issues equipment and supplies such as radios, batteries and keys to department personnel and maintains related records.
7. Performs other job-related duties are assigned.
*Must obtain TCOLE Telecommunications License within 12 months.

Experience: No experience is required.
Certification/Licensing: None. Must obtain TCOLE communications certification within 12 months of hire.

Additional Job Prerequisites:
• Candidate for hire must have/or be able to obtain a Texas Driver's License at the time of a bona fide job offer.
• Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job.
• Must be able to obtain a Basic Telecommunicator Certification through TCOLE within a year from hire.
• If you have a Telecommunicator's license please attach a copy under miscellaneous Documents on the application.
• Must pass Computerized Criminal History Check, Background Investigation and Drug Testing prior to employment.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime assignments.
Environmental Conditions
• Working conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.
Employees are required to work various assigned shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends and may be required to remain at their post for an additional shift. All staff are "essential personnel" and are required to report to work during inclement weather.

Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
• Physical Risk
Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.
