About the Role:
Lead the Infrastructure That Keeps Us Flying
The Vice President of Building Asset Management serves as one of the captains for RDU's buildings and building systems department— you'll use capital and operating budgets to balance long-range infrastructure planning with day-to-day operational execution of planning, leading, and facilitating the maintenance, renewal, and replacement of existing facilities across the campus. This role ensures our airline and tenant modifications, retail and concessions upgrades, rental car facilities, and ongoing infrastructure improvements are safe, modern, and ready to support a world-class airport operation.
This is more than facilities management and development—it's stewardship of the infrastructure that powers one of the nation's fastest-growing airports.
As Vice President of Building Asset Management, you'll:
- Lead at scale — Oversee major building and building systems renewal and replacement programs that support airline operations, concessions, rental cars, and tenant partners.
- Shape the future — Drive capital renewal and modernization efforts that align with RDU's long-term strategic and growth plans.
- Operate where it matters most — Work in a 24/7, high-visibility environment where safety, reliability, and passenger experience are mission-critical.
- Build and inspire teams — Lead talented internal staff and external partners through complex, high-impact projects.
- Have real influence — Serve as a trusted senior leader representing the Authority on key building initiatives and investments.

Compensation:
- Maximum Based on experience
- Minimum - $141,790.48
What You'll Do:
- Develops strategic rehabilitation programs for building infrastructure and systems.
- Evaluates and implements new technologies and systems, including energy management programs, to enhance airport operations and reduce costs.
- Represents the Authority in interaction with airlines and other tenants and federal agencies on building infrastructure and systems and associated operational matters.
- Develops and oversees architectural, engineering, construction, and procurement-related contracts and agreements.
- Reviews technical content and operational requirements in construction plans, specifications, and project manuals for compliance with program objectives, budget, and schedule.
- Monitors adequacy of private sector firms and employees.
- Researches, negotiates, and facilitates resolution of disputes between contracting parties.
- Assists legal counsel in preparing complex legal agreements and resolving disputes.
- Participation as a member of a response team to support other divisions during emergencies and irregular operations.
- Keeps executive level staff fully informed of all department initiatives, industry initiatives and activities that affect organizational policy.
- Leads a team of professional staff and inspires the team to achieve department and organizational goals, adopt new positions or opinions and promotes shared organizational mission, vision, and core values. Addresses issues in an open, constructive, professional manner, and persuades others to approach issues in the same manner.

What You Need:
Education:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or structural) or architecture
Preferred:
- Master's degree in civil engineering, or architecture
Experience:
Required:
- 10 years of project management and design oversight work experience at a commercial service airport or comparable industry experience of similar scale and scope.
Preferred:
- Project Management and design oversight experience at a medium-hub or larger commercial service airport.
Licenses or Certifications:
Required:
- Valid NC Driver's License
Preferred:
- Professional Registration as an Engineer or Architect
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification
Typical Work Hours:
- 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

- On-site RDU Airport Campus
