The Doe Run Company is seeking a Waste Water Treatment Tech to do neutralization of BSN effluent acid and operating the wastewater treatment system to ensure plant effluent water meets all regulatory standards. This rotating position will be located at The Buick Resource Recycling Facility in Boss, MO.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Minimum three years of related industrial experience
- Mobile equipment certification.
- Environmental safety and health rules and regulations training (provided upon hire).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic mechanical skills.

Basic math skills

Knowledge of material loading and unloading procedures.

Basic knowledge of chemical terminology.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Working knowledge of environmental standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the wastewater treatment plant by monitoring chemical usage, water pH, and impoundment water level to ensure effluent meets water quality standards.
- Monitor plant water level in tanks and ponds and discharge as necessary to maintain plant wide water balance.
- Monitoring acid tank levels, transferring acid, and neutralizing the BSN effluent acid and operate filter presses.
- Perform pre-shift inspection on machinery and equipment. Tighten, lubricate, and clean (TLC) and make minor repairs and replacements.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health and safety) policies, procedures and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment, Physical and Lifting:
- Regularly required to wear personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, respirator, hearing protection and eyewear and to work near moving, mechanical parts. Regularly exposed to wet, humid conditions; frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions and vibration; occasionally exposed to extreme heat. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Regularly requires grasping, pushing, standing, walking, driving, and reaching with hands/arms; frequently requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing or balancing, and repetitive movement; occasionally requires sitting, talking, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, and moving up and down from/to a sitting position on the floor. Requires clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, the ability to judge distance and spatial relationships, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds; occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
