Description
Position Description The Well Ops Manager leads the well work operations for the EOR Assets with a team of 25+ employees and contractors which include superintendents, well site supervisors, technicians, and engineers. This position is the lead liaison between KM corporate interests, local community leaders and occasional government/regulatory agencies. The position is highly demanding and requires excellent leadership skills, understanding of well operations and key business drivers. Rapid yet good business and employee decision making is common to further both public and employee trust and protect the assets.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Safely manage and optimize well work operations including producing and injection well repair, completions, re-completions, surface stimulations, coil tubing interventions, plug and abandonment and reverse unit operations.
- Lead, direct and supervise engineers and superintendents within the EOR Well Operations organization.
- Manage artificial lift contract & tubular inventories
- Manage well completions optimization teams
- Ensure that well work and reverse unit operations are in compliance with all safety practices and procedures.
- Manage budget preparation, cost analysis and establish cost control procedures
- Review well work procedures and cost estimates
- Maintain close working relationship between well operations personnel and the personnel/operations of the other SACROC departments.
- Assure the development and training of direct reports.
- Respond to emergency situations in an appropriate manner.
- Manage regulatory repair work.
Position Requirements
Position Requirements:
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.
- 7+ years of drilling and/or well work experience with an oil and gas company
- Familiar with drilling and completion practices
- Familiar with coil tubing operations and practices
- Strong organization, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to make technically and economically sound decisions and recommendations
- Good overall practical oilfield operations knowledge
- Demonstrated initiative and results oriented team member skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge in Texas Railroad Commission policies and procedures
Preferred Experience:
- Well control certification
- CO2 project experience
